The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 26-year-old suspect and retrieved a stolen 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport estimated at around N18m.
The findings on Tuesday disclosed that the suspect is employed as a cleaner at Girei Cottage Hospital, where the vehicle’s owner, a current member of the National Youth Service Corps, is a practicing medical doctor.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed that the suspect, Mohammed Dan-Azumi, was apprehended in Kano State.
As stated, the breakthrough came after the vehicle’s owner reported that he had given it to the suspect for cleaning.
The advancement came after a report was made by the vehicle’s owner, who claimed he had given his vehicle to Mohammed Dan-Azumi, 26, from Girei Local Government Area, for cleaning. The suspect reportedly fled with the vehicle to an undisclosed location.
“Responding promptly to the report, officers from the State Intelligence Department in Yola initiated a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the tracking down and apprehension of the suspect in Kano State.” “The recovered vehicle was successfully retrieved,” the statement partially stated.
The announcement also indicated that inquiries were still in progress and that the suspect would be formally charged after the investigation concludes.
The Police Commissioner of Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Hassan, praised the commitment and expertise of the investigative team.
He reiterated the command’s dedication to fighting all types of crime and urged the public to keep supporting the police with prompt and reliable information.
