Following a year-long internship, rigorous training, and assessment program, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has hired more than 1,000 young people.

This was revealed by NNPC Ltd.’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, who described the exercise as a significant milestone for the national oil firm in a post on the business’s social media accounts.

Ojulari claims that the recently deployed staff members came out of a demanding process that involved training, internships, and performance evaluations.

“After a year of internship, intensive training, and evaluation, we officially deployed over 1,000 young professionals into NNPC Ltd today, marking a huge milestone for us,” he stated.

According to Ojulari, the hiring process demonstrated the company’s dedication to hiring people based on their qualifications rather than their past or personal ties.

“The same door, but different routes. We then opened it. That’s what NNPC Limited stands for today: what you can do, not who you know or where you’re from,” he said.

The head of NNPC also stated that although offer letters guaranteed admission to the company, the employees’ performance throughout the internship year earned them permanent deployment.

“Their work over the past year kept them here, but their offer letters got them in. They consistently shown their abilities under intense circumstances, and that is the benchmark we are establishing aptitude, diligence, fairness,” he remarked.

Ojulari urged the new hires to speak up, offer suggestions, and take ownership of their professional development inside the organization.

Additionally, he encouraged them to keep in mind the steps that led to their deployment and to make future opportunities for others.

“To the more than 1,000 recently deployed: you are more than just our future. Our present is you. Our vitality. Our evidence. Therefore, don’t be afraid to speak up, express your thoughts, and question the existing quo. Take responsibility for your own growth.

Don’t forget to wait, though. Remember the procedure. Ojulari continued, “Because you’ll remember this moment when you’re sitting where I am, and you’ll open that same door for someone else.”

The deployment coincides with NNPC’s ongoing efforts to bolster its staff and increase capacity throughout its operations in the wake of its conversion under the Petroleum Industry Act into a commercially focused national energy company.

Under the immediate former GCEO, Mele Kyari, NNPC declared in July 2024 that it will be hiring new employees.
