Six suspected kidnappers have been apprehended, according to the Kaduna State Police Command, while a suspected kidnapper’s hideout in the state’s Ikara Local Government Area has been destroyed.
This was revealed in a statement released in Kaduna on Thursday by DSP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson.
According to Hassan, the suspects were taken into custody as a result of reliable information from a kidnap victim who managed to flee from captivity and public intelligence.
According to him, the victim reported his kidnapping to the police on Tuesday and stated that he was being held captive at a home owned by 65-year-old Ja’e Samalu of Dogon Pako Village, Ikara.
“The Ikara Police Division quickly mobilized officers, working with members of the local vigilante service, to raid the location upon receiving the complaint,” he stated.
He claimed that six individuals, ages 20 to 65, were taken into custody as a result of the operation.
The suspects were still being held by the police while their individual roles in the crime were being investigated, the police spokeswoman stated.
“Ongoing efforts are being made to capture additional members of the criminal network,” he continued.
Hassan cited CP Muhammad Rabiu, the state’s commissioner of police, praising the officers and citizens for promptly submitting information.
Rabiu advised locals to exercise caution and to notify the closest police formation right away of any suspicious individuals, movements, or activities.
Additionally, the commissioner cautioned locals to be on the lookout for criminal groups that might utilize residential buildings as hiding places or as places to hold victims who have been abducted.
He emphasized that preventing and destroying criminal networks in the state still depended heavily on timely information exchange and community awareness.
