A gas station in Kano State’s Rano Local Government Area experienced a fire outbreak on Tuesday night,. Firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to other areas of the building.
According to information obtained, the incident happened at Tukur Muhd Nig. Limited, which is situated along Saya Saya Road in Rano, at approximately 9:20 p.m.
This was said in a statement released on Wednesday by ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Kano State Fire Service’s public relations officer.
The manager of the filling station, Abubakar Umar, reported the fire outbreak in a distress call to the agency’s Emergency Response Unit at Rano Fire Station.
“At approximately 21:20 hours on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, our Emergency Response Unit received a distress call from Abubakar Umar, the manager of Tukur Muhd Nig. Limited, reporting a fire outbreak at the premises,” the statement read.
According to the organization, firemen from the Rano Fire Station arrived at the location as soon as they received the distress call.
“When our men arrived, they discovered a 200-by-100-foot building on the ground floor that was being used as a gas station,” the statement continued.
The organization claims that the fire originated from a Mikano generator and spread to a Canter vehicle’s slightly lit rear tires.
According to the statement, “the fire originated from a Mikano generator and affected the back tires of a Canter vehicle, which were slightly alight.”
However, the firefighters were able to successfully confine the fire and stop it from spreading to other areas of the filling station.
According to the agency, “our men successfully contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the filling station.”
No casualties were reported, and the Kano State Fire Service blamed the event on a generator malfunction.
Alhaji Sani Anas, the agency’s director, advised locals to be watchful and take preventative action to stop fires.
“To lessen the frequency of fire outbreaks, members of the public should remain vigilant and take proactive measures,” Anas stated.
Additionally, he advised locals and business owners to make sure that fire safety equipment was on hand and operational.
“We urge residents to have working fire extinguishers in their homes and businesses and to make sure that the proper fire safety procedures are followed at all times,” he continued.
