Plans for the 19th Annual Banking and Finance Conference have been released by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, with the goal of producing workable policy frameworks to support the nation’s financial sector in the face of persistent macroeconomic disturbances.

“Building a Resilient Economy in an Era of Disruptions: Strategic Imperatives for the Banking and Financial Services Industry” is the theme of the flagship event, which will take place at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on September 8 and 9, 2026.

This year’s meeting was organized to convert high-level discussions into tangible policy outcomes, according to Mr. Moruf Oseni, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank and Chairman of the Consultative Committee for the conference, who spoke at a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday.

“We have planned what is going to be the biggest edition of the CIBN Annual Banking and Finance Conference in years, and by biggest, I am not just speaking about size,” he declared.

“What we have put together is a strategic blend of enlightening business sessions, custom youth-focused and cybersecurity programs, and an abundance of solution-driven conversations.”

In order to facilitate informed decision-making and policy alignment with international best practices, he emphasized that the summit’s decisions would be compiled into an official communiqué and directly presented to fiscal and monetary regulatory agencies.

The conference will have a women-focused track for the first time in its 19-year existence, with the goal of showcasing female leadership in promoting sustainable economic growth.

Oseni stated, “For the first time ever, the conference will feature a women-focused program that will bring to focus the role women play in building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready economy.” The focus was in line with initiatives to empower important demographic groups, such as youth and small and medium-sized businesses.

Top government officials and influential financial figures are anticipated to attend the two-day summit, including President Bola Tinubu, Vise President Kashim Shettima, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Dele Alabi, President and Chairman of Council of CIBN, along with business executives, technology suppliers, and development partners from the financial services industry.
