Oyo State Governor and presidential hopeful of the Allied Peoples Movement, Seyi Makinde, asserted that Nigeria can be transformed in four years if he becomes president in 2027.
In a previous post on X, he mentioned, “We are currently in Lafia for the APM North Central Town Hall Meeting today.
“Last night, we conducted a private meeting with APM candidates in the North Central Zone.” We will collaborate to transform Nigeria to benefit all Nigerians.
Makinde addressed the APM North-Central Town Hall Meeting in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, on Monday, as reported by Vanguard.
He stated that his suggested administration would establish a new security framework, create a fresh direction for education, and revitalize the economy by utilizing data, science, and reasoning.
He states that the suggested reset would also encompass Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
“The reset plan can be completed in four years.” A person served as the head of state in this nation for 10 months, and during that time, he successfully ended military rule and initiated the democracy we currently experience in Nigeria.
“Within four years, we can reestablish Nigeria with a revamped security framework, an innovative educational approach, an economy driven by data, science, and reason, as well as enhance our socio-political landscape.”
“Therefore, starting from May 29, 2027, as your president, we will establish a transitional government of national unity that will lead to new leaders and a plan for Nigeria’s sustainable development,” he stated.
Makinde also condemned the Federal Government’s strategy for addressing insecurity, especially in the North-Central area.
He raised doubts about the strategy concerning the creation of extra army divisions, noting that he didn’t observe allocations for them in the 2026 budget.
“By the middle of 2026, insecurity is a major concern, particularly in the North-Central region.” They organized military divisions, and I was examining the 2026 budget. Regarding the matter of establishing those army divisions, I did not observe it.
“He mentioned that if it’s included in the budget they created for 2026, they ought to mention it.”
Makinde stated that addressing insecurity necessitated effective planning and sufficient budget allocations.
He also inquired if higher funding to state governments had resulted in better living conditions for Nigerians.
“Indeed, they assert that the state government receives additional funds from the federation account.” I’m not claiming we possess more funds, but has that resulted in combating hunger in our community? “No,” he replied.
Discussing Oyo State’s finances, Makinde noted that the state decreased its reliance on federal allocations after he took office in 2019, but has now reverted to a greater level of dependence.
“When I assumed office as Oyo state governor in 2019, the state relied on federal allocation for over 80 percent; we put in significant effort to reduce it to around 65 percent by 2022, then the announcement ‘subsidy is gone’ came… as a result, today Oyo state is nearly back to 80 percent reliant on federal allocation.”
“That is their mystical finance,” he remarked.
