Reverend Dr. Job Ayuba Baggat, the president of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), has denounced the recent coordinated attacks on few towns in Plateau State, calling it a vicious attack on humanity.
One person died on Tuesday in Miango, Bassa Local Government Area, while at least ten people were killed on Sunday in the Ratatis hamlet in Dorowa Babuje District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Reverend Baggat lamented the terrible death toll and property damage during the attacks in a statement released on Tuesday and signed by Danjuma Auta, ECWA’s acting public relations officer.
“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of precious lives in Dorowa Babuje and Nzharivo. These coordinated attacks are not just assaults on the individuals and families affected; they are a direct assault on the sanctity of humanity itself,” Rev. Dr. Baggat stated.
“We stand in solidarity with the victims, their families, and all those grappling with the unimaginable grief and fear that these acts of terror have sown within our communities.”
The Federal government and the Plateau State government were urged by Rev. Dr. Baggat to intensify and maintain their efforts to protect people and property.
He urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incidents and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice as a deterrent.
The President of ECWA also urged the Federal Government to explore long-term solutions to the persistent issue of insecurity and urged the government to strengthen the security architecture.
While opposing ideas that aim to split communities along racial or religious lines, he counseled community members to be watchful and alert to security dangers in their surroundings.
Additionally, Rev. Baggat assigned wealthy people, religious organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to offer emergency aid to displaced people and families who lost their means of livelihood due to the attacks. He prayed for the injured to heal quickly and for the grieving families to find solace.
