The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man for allege beating his 15-year-old son to death and secretly burying the body in their family compound in Uhe Community, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
Police reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, when the suspect reportedly assaulted the teenager with a stick, causing fatal injuries.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, announced the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday.
She said the suspect, whose identity has been withheld, allegedly tried to cover up the crime by digging a shallow grave within the family compound to bury the corpse.
ASP Ikoedem stated that credible intelligence provided by the victim’s mother and grandmother led to the arrest of the suspect.
She added that the grandmother, an 82-year-old woman and the suspect’s mother also lives in the same household.
“The suspect allegedly dug a grave within the compound and buried the corpse in a bid to cover up the crime.
“The deceased’s grandmother, who is also the suspect’s mother, provided useful information to the police, which aided our investigation,” the statement said.
She added that, following proper administrative procedures, the grave was exhumed, photographs were taken for evidence, and the stick allegedly used in the offense was recovered as an exhibit.
