Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate have taken 24 alleged online scammers into custody in Benin city, Edo State.

The suspects were detained on Monday at different locations in Benin City, according to the EFCC, which revealed this information in a statement and photos posted on X.com on Wednesday.

The statement partly read, “The suspects were arrested following actionable intelligence of their suspected involvement in computer-related fraud.

“Items recovered from them include 11 exotic cars, laptops, and phones. The sum of N160,000.00 (one hundred and sixty thousand naira) was also recovered from one of the suspects.”

The EFCC claims that the suspects have provided helpful statements and that they would face charges as soon as the investigations are finished.

It was reported on Monday that the Sokoto Zonal Directorate of the EFCC nabbed thirteen alleged online fraudsters in Sokoto State based on actionable intelligence on their potential participation in internet-related offences.
