Omar Marmoush, a forward for Manchester City, has agreed to a loan deal with Tottenham Hotspur, with the requirement to make the move permanent for £60 million next summer.
The 27-year-old Egypt international will join Spurs after battling for consistent playing time at Manchester City since coming from Eintracht Frankfurt, as reported on Wednesday.
After an outstanding run in the Bundesliga, Marmoush signed a £59 million contract with City in January 2025.
But he struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter at the Etihad Stadium, frequently playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland.
The Egyptian was used as a substitute in the second half of City’s 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal and was left out of their Premier League debut, a 2-1 triumph over Bournemouth at home.
Marmoush made 62 appearances for City in all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
During the 2025–26 season, he made 36 appearances and scored eight goals, but his involvement in the Premier League drastically decreased.
He played almost 700 minutes, started just eight league games, and finished the season with three goals and three assists.
The forward may have a chance to get more consistent first-team playing time after joining Tottenham.
Marmoush’s contributions to Tottenham
Roberto De Zerbi, the manager of Tottenham, might benefit much from Marmoush’s adaptability.
The Egypt international has experience playing across the front line, while being primarily a center-forward.
He was mostly deployed through the middle at Eintracht Frankfurt, but he occasionally played from the left wing and as a second striker.
In a similar vein, Manchester City mostly used him as a central attacker, though they sometimes occasionally used him from the flank and behind another forward.
Given that Richarlison is nearing the end of his contract and Dominic Solanke has had injury issues over the last 18 months, Spurs may see value in that flexibility.
Marmoush is at ease dropping in the direction of the ball, switching positions, and taking advantage of openings produced when defenders are moved out of position.
According to reports, Tottenham has already spent more than £312 million during the summer transfer window.
Savio joined the team from Manchester City as part of their recruitment effort, and as Spurs continue to reorganize their roster, a number of other players have also joined.
Marmoush would be another important signing as Tottenham looks to bolster their offensive options with his projected permanent transfer of £60 million.
After a patchy stint at Manchester City, the Egyptian sees the move as an opportunity to pick up steam and become a vital member of the north London community.
