Michael Oyedokun, one of the abducted teachers of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area, has been slain.
In a fresh video purportedly released by bandits on Sunday, Oyedokun was beheaded.
The teacher was brutally murdered after being bound and made to talk, according to the footage that our correspondent was able to receive on Telegram on Monday.
Concerns about the safety of the surviving victims have been sparked by the horrific footage that went viral.
The community is in sorrow as a result of this most recent event, and locals, families of the dead, and natives are still pleading with security services and the Oyo State government to step up rescue efforts in order to obtain the release of those who are still in captivity before they are killed.
Dr. Suleimon Olanrewaju, Governor Seyi Makinde’s Special Advisor on Media, confirmed the teacher’s death in a statement on Monday. He said the governor offered his condolences to the victim’s family and promised his government would look into both kinetic and non-kinetic ways to save others in the kidnappers’ den.
Additionally, he stated that roughly six people in connection with the kidnapping event had been taken into custody.
He also expressed sympathy for the relatives of the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and members of the tactical squad of soldiers who perished during the rescue effort.
He claims that the abductors planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), which killed the operatives.
He said that the government will not cut corners in providing care for the injured security personnel, who were responding favorably to therapy.
He promised that the government will save the victims and reconnect them with their families, and he urged the victims’ relatives, religious organizations, and other interested parties to be patient.
“There may not be easy solutions, but we will keep trying to push ourselves to the maximum in order to get this resolved as soon as possible.
As of right now, we know that a total of seven teachers were kidnapped. And, regrettably, we received a video this morning showing that one of the teachers—I believe the math teacher—was murdered by terrorists,” he said.
However, Makinde stated that the government has had some success with the operation, since some people have already been taken into custody in relation to the matter.
