Following the discovery of two villagers’ bodies in a nearby bush, the Ondo State Police Command announced on Wednesday that it had sent officers to the Akotogbo community in the state’s Irele Local Government Area.
Loyinmi Bode and Andrew Friday, the deceased, were reportedly discovered in different parts of the village in separate instances that took place within a month.
The agrarian community is experiencing dread and tension as a result of the development, and locals are demanding immediate action from security services and the state administration.
Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the command has taken action to restore order.
He declared, “The command is fully aware of these developments and remains resolute in its constitutional mandate of protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding residents of Ondo State.”
In order to avert a collapse of law and order, he continued, strong security measures had been implemented in Akotogbo and nearby communities.
“To prevent any breakdown of law and order and ensure sustained public safety, strong security measures have been implemented within Akotogbo and its surrounding communities,” Jimoh stated.
The police spokeswoman added that efforts to find, detain, and prosecute individuals accountable for the fatalities were still ongoing.
