A 22-year-old lady was taken into custody by detectives from the Ogun State Police Command’s Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters. They also found a suspected stolen Suzuki minibus that was being repainted in an Omu-Ijebu bush.

Azeez Khadijat, the suspect, was taken into custody on Sunday at approximately 4 p.m. following reports that three men and a woman were seen illegally repainting the car, known as “Korope,” along Ikhasi Road in Kajola via Omu without a license plate.

This was revealed in a statement issued on Tuesday by DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the state police spokesperson.

According to Babaseyi, it was believed that the car was once yellow before being repainted blue and white in an effort to change its identity.

”Detectives quickly mobilized to the scene based on the intelligence. The suspects fled in various directions as soon as they saw the operators. But inside the abandoned car, Azeez Khadijat was taken into custody”, Babaseyi stated.

The car was found and secured at the station; it had a Lagos State license plate.

Three cell phones, a power bank, a paint can, a piece of sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cord were found during a search of the area; all of these items are thought to have belonged to the escaping suspects.

According to Babaseyi, early investigations showed that the minibus was reportedly utilized for illegal activities in Lagos State. As a result, the suspects repainted the vehicle to hide its identity and avoid detection.

The State Criminal Investigation Department at Eleweran, Abeokuta, will handle the case for additional investigation and prosecution, he continued.

Bode Ojajuni, the Commissioner of Police, praised the agents’ prompt action and promised to prosecute any collaborators who fled.

The public has been asked to be on the lookout for suspicious activity and to report it by calling the emergency lines of the Ogun State Police Command: Gateway Shield emergency lines are 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994; the toll-free number is 0800 000 9111.

Three suspects were apprehended by the state command on Monday in separate operations along the Mowe and Sagamu axis.

They found locally produced weapons, ammunition, and charms thought to be connected to illegal and cult-related operations.
