Abdullahi Idris, Kebbi State Governor’s Special Advisor on Communication and Strategy, has supported Governor Nasir Idris’ backing of President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the governor has a moral and political obligation to rally widespread support for the President’s reelection in 2027.
Sadaukin Zuru, the governor’s assistant, stated that Kebbi State has greatly profited from its alliance with the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government in a statement headed “In Defence of Governor Idris’ Support for President Tinubu” that was made accessible to press on Monday.
He said that in the 2023 governorship election, the people of Kebbi freely selected Governor Idris under the APC, characterizing the mandate as a vote of trust in the governor’s labor experience, record of public service, and dedication to development.
Nigerians have the sovereign right to select their party and course thanks to multi-party democracy. By choosing Comrade Governor Nasir Idris under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, the people of Kebbi State made a clear decision, he stated.
He claims that by allowing Governor Idris to suggest eligible Kebbi natives for positions to federal boards and commissions, President Tinubu has improved the state’s ties with the federal government.
He declared, “President Tinubu has reversed the situation and authorized Comrade Nasir Idris to recommend credible, experienced, and selfless Kebbi indigenes for appointment after years of hijacking the state’s share of membership in federal boards and commissions.”
Additionally, according to the governor’s adviser, the President had been responsive to the governor’s complaints regarding what he called the unfair removal or denial of worthy Kebbi indigenous people from federal positions.
Sadaukin Zuru added that efforts to combat insecurity have been strengthened by the friendly relationship between the state and the federal government, pointing out that the federal government had acknowledged Governor Idris’ support for security agencies by providing financial and logistical support in the battle against banditry.
He also mentioned federal agricultural interventions, stating that the state government’s yearly delivery of free farming inputs had been supplemented by additional food and farming assistance from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
He declared, “These gains have demonstrated that Kebbi benefits most when it stands firmly with the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the center.”
He insisted that the governor’s backing of Tinubu did not compromise the democratic rights of Nigerians, emphasizing that each person was still free to cast their vote in accordance with their own beliefs.
He said, “The governor also affirms that every Nigerian retains the constitutional right to vote according to conscience and the track record of the candidate of his or her choice.”
Sadaukin Zuru asked APC members and supporters throughout Kebbi State to mobilize more in advance of the 2027 general elections in order to help President Tinubu win another election.
Governor Nasir Idris is urging all APC members and supporters of progress in Kebbi to mobilize in large numbers in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection as 2027 draws near. We need to keep the door open because the center is listening to Kebbi,” he continued.
