Gunmen attacked the Tilengpat Pushit community in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State and killed twelve persons.
It was discovered that the attacks that resulted in the victims’ deaths happened late on Thursday night.
Not fewer than ten people were shot and killed by gunmen last week namely in the villages of Mandung-Mushu and Kopnanle, Bokkos and Mangu local government regions of the State.
They also set the homes of villagers ablaze and injured a number of people.
Markus Argue, the Chairman of the Mangu Local Government Area, confirmed the most recent murders.
“Yes, it is true that our people were just killed in an unjustifiable attack,” he remarked. It took place the previous evening. I am in the damaged Pushit community while I speak with you. We are still evaluating the situation, so I am unable to provide you with an exact number of victims at this time. However, we do not know why certain individuals would simply target women and children in their homes and kill them without cause.
However, a Pushit community leader who only wanted to be known as John stated that twelve dead bodies had been found at the attack site and in the surrounding bush as a result of the most recent attack.
According to John, twelve people who were brutally murdered during the incident in the Pushit community have had their bodies discovered thus far.
“Until their relatives are notified, the victims’ identities have not yet been made public. In order to determine the motivation behind these horrible atrocities and to identify and apprehend those guilty, law enforcement authorities have also arrived and begun an investigation.
Security personnel have been sent to the affected village, according to sources at the Plateau State Police Command headquarters in Jos. The command’s spokesperson, Alabo Alfred, could not be reached for comment on the incident right away.
In the meantime, Women in Bokkos Local Government Area have protested in the streets about the recent spate of violent attacks on their villages by armed individuals.
The protesting women were reportedly going to the Council headquarters to file their complaints, according to some residents of Bokkos town.
