Despite recent developments at the national level, the African Democratic Congress in Rivers State has stated that it is still strong and unified.

The party claimed that its mechanisms are still deeply ingrained throughout the state’s 23 local government districts.

Chukwudi Dimkpa, the state’s incoming ADC Chairman, made this claim in a message he issued to reporters in Port Harcourt on Monday evening.

Recall that on Sunday, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, and Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, allegedly left the ADC to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

Dimkpa, however, emphasized that the party in Rivers State is unaffected by the development and that its power is independent of certain people.

“The African Democratic Congress in Rivers State wishes to reassure its members, supporters, and the good people of the state that the party remains strong, united, and firmly committed to its mission of delivering people; leadership and governance,” the statement said.

This comes after recent national political developments, including reports of movements by well-known political personalities like Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi.

The ADC in Rivers State emphasizes that the party’s strength is found in its institutions, principles, and the people’s collective will rather than in individual members.

Integrity, inclusivity, and public service are the cornerstones of our party. In Rivers State, we are creating something greater than any one person.

“The ADC continues to be the forum for trustworthy leadership and a fresh course for our state.”

According to him, the circumstances offer the party a chance to build its institutions at the ward, local government, and state levels and expand grassroots mobilization.

“We, the ADC, reiterate that Rivers people are ready for a new direction, driven by accountability in leadership, economic opportunity, social justice, and inclusive governance,” the statement continued.

The party is presenting itself as a legitimate alternative that provides genuine leadership, genuine optimism, and genuine answers to the state’s problems.

The ADC is breathing new life into Rivers State politics. Our goals are to alleviate suffering, restore dignity, and create a prosperous future for everybody.

“This is the time to be part of a movement that puts the people first,” the party said, urging members to stick together and encouraging locals to take advantage of ongoing registration.
