Massimiliano Allegri will replace Antonio Conte as Napoli manager, the Serie A club confirmed Friday.
“Napoli welcomes Massimiliano Allegri as manager of the first team,” the statement stated, noting that the 58-year-old had committed to a three-year deal that would run through 2029.
Allegri has coached AC Milan (2010-14, 2025-26) and Juventus (2014-19, 2021-24). After the squad failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season, Milan fired him.
Since the completion of the season, nine of the 20 Serie A teams have changed coaches, including Napoli, AC Milan, which hired the Portuguese Ruben Amorim, Atalanta Bergamo (Maurizio Sarri), and Fiorentina (Fabio Grosso).
Conte, who coached Napoli to the Serie A title in the 2024/25 campaign, has been considered as the favourite to take over as Italy coach.
The former Italy international previously managed the national team from 2014 and 2016, guiding them to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, where they lost on penalties to Germany.
