In order for 16-year-old Akinbolaji Timileyin to have surgery for a right inguinal hernia, his family has requested financial support.
After experiencing excruciating abdominal and scrotal agony, Timileyin was reportedly sent to Oromidayo Medicare Center and diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia.
Timileyin was taken to the hospital with symptoms of excruciating pain, according to a medical report from the center.
The paper partially said, “The above-named was rushed to our clinic with complaints of severe abdominal ache with scrotal ache.”
Additionally, a scan at Joy Medical Diagnostic Center in Ijoko, Ogun State, found a compressible mass in the right upper quadrant of the pelvic canal that was roughly 98 mm by 76 mm.
In a different report, the medical center noticed that “in the right upper quadrant of the pelvic canal, there is a hyper echogenic pattern of a compressible mass measuring about 98mm × 76mm, associated probe tenderness suggestive of RIGHT INGUINAL HERNIA.”
The scan also revealed that there was no lump or cyst seen in the right scrotum, and both testes had smooth outlines, uniform echo patterns, and normal diameters.
At the time of the scan, the impression was “right inguinal hernia,” and surgical intervention was recommended.
Akinbolaji Nofisat, Timileyin’s mother, told our correspondent on Monday that the condition became apparent when her son’s stomach and private area swelled.
“His private part got swollen, and it also affected his stomach, leading to the swelling of both parts,” she stated. When we brought him to the hospital, we were informed that he would have surgery, which would cost N400,000.
“He will sustain him first while we gather the money, the doctor said, in order to save his life.”
Nofisat stated that stomach ache was the primary symptom of the illness and that the family had tried various herbal remedies before going to the doctor.
“It all began with stomach pain, and various herbal remedies were given to him in the hopes of curing him, but it did not,” she stated.
According to the mother, the family has already raised N100,000 of the N300,000 required for the procedure.
“We have successfully raised N100,000. It is still N300,000. Since it is the sole thing holding up the procedure, we are looking for financial assistance,” she said.
