The club announced on Wednesday that Real Madrid intends to bring retired tennis legend Rafael Nadal onto their board of directors.
Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, has held the title of honorary club member since 2011 and maintains a solid connection with Madrid president Florentino Perez.
“Real Madrid and all its supporters take immense pride in having a person of his sporting and personal caliber — a standard-bearer of Spanish and global sports — joinour board of directors and, in this capacity, help shape the present and future of our club,” stated Los Blancos in a release.
Real Madrid’s members, known as socios, are anticipated to approve Nadal’s appointment during the club’s general assembly on November 21.
“I’m grateful to president Florentino Perez and the board for inviting me to be a part of the board of directors of Real Madrid,” Nadal posted on the social media platform X.
“I am thrilled to accept this proposal and look forward to learning while contributing my utmost.”
Nadal, 40, achieved a record 14 singles titles at the French Open during his illustrious career.
