In order to repatriate the remains of Christiana Nwosu, a Nigerian woman who allegedly passed away from cardiac arrest while visiting the UK, family members have started a fundraising effort.
Chijioke Metuka’s GoFundMe appeal on behalf of the Nwosu family provided with this information on Monday.
Metuka claims that Nwosu passed away on July 19, 2026, leaving her loved ones and children in shock.
According to Metuka, the deceased was “a beacon of light, love, and warmth,” and her loss left an indelible hole in the lives of everyone who knew her.
The family stated that their biggest desire was to honor her memory by sending her remains back to Nigeria for burial, where she would be buried alongside her ancestors and extended family.
“During this time of immense grief, Izuchukwu and his family’s deepest wish is to honor her memory by laying her to rest in her homeland of Nigeria, surrounded by her extended family and roots,” the plea stated.
“There are substantial and unforeseen financial costs associated with returning a loved one from the UK to Nigeria.”
The family did point out that the cost of returning her remains from the UK would be approximately £10,000, which would include funeral director fees, professional repatriation services and paperwork, air freight costs, transportation, and burial and funeral costs in Nigeria.
“To help Izuchukwu and his family through this extremely trying period, we have established this fund. The petition stated, “Every single donation, regardless of size, will go directly towards covering these repatriation and funeral expenses to help ease the financial strain on the family.”
The public was urged by the organizers to donate to the family or spread the word about the fundraising effort.
