The three individuals arrested over the alleged killing of former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, are scheduled to appear before a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta on Monday.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed the development, stating that the suspects would be arraigned at Magistrate Court 3, Isabo, Abeokuta, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026.
According to Oluseyi, the police command is notifying members of the media of the planned court proceedings involving the three suspects arrested in connection with the alleged murders.
The arraignment follows less than two weeks after the police command announced the arrest of the suspects in connection with the killings of Oyesiku and Adetayo at the broadcaster’s residence in Abeokuta.
It was reported that the police launched an investigation after residents alerted authorities to suspicious activities at the deceased’s home.
Detectives who arrived at the scene observed evidence of forced entry and signs of a struggle. Adetayo’s lifeless body was discovered at the security post, while Oyesiku was found dead inside the residence. Investigators also recovered Oyesiku’s Lexus RX330, which had earlier been reported missing.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed that detectives recorded a major breakthrough after recovering a note from the stolen vehicle. The note was subjected to forensic examination, which ultimately led investigators to the prime suspect.
Ojajuni said the prime suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was apprehended on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara, where he was employed as a labourer.
Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, identified as 27-year-old security guard Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola and 36-year-old bricklayer Sobu Obafunsho.
According to Ojajuni, Philip reportedly confessed to orchestrating the attack, alleging that he was driven by unresolved grievances against Oyesiku stemming from his previous role as her security guard. He allegedly claimed the murder was carried out to “teach her a lesson.”
Police further alleged that the suspects overpowered Adetayo and forced him to grant them access to Oyesiku’s residence, where the two victims were allegedly murdered.
The stolen Lexus RX330 was subsequently recovered in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State following intelligence-driven and technology-assisted tracking operations.
Investigators also recovered several items believed to be connected to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and a black pen, from locations associated with the suspects.
The command stated that although the suspects had provided valuable information and significant evidence had been obtained, they remained entitled to fair legal process. It added that investigations were ongoing to ensure the thorough prosecution of all individuals found to be linked to the offence.
