Oluwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, a 27-year-old Nigerian living in the UK, is accused of killing Finbar Sullivan, a 21-year-old man who was stabbed to death after a brawl in London.
According to statements, the event took place in Primrose Hill, London, on April 7.
The statement said that the dead had gotten into a brawl in the neighbourhood, which prompted people to call the police.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and attempted to save the victim, but he passed away there.
The statement said, ”Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Primrose Hill have named the victim as they continue to appeal for information from the public.
On Tuesday, April 7, 21-year-old Finbar Sullivan was fatally stabbed. His next of kin have been notified and are still receiving assistance from specialised officers.
Officers were called at 18:41hrs to reports of a fight at the viewpoint in Primrose Hill. Upon arrival, police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found Finbar with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.”
It was further stated that investigations were underway and that another person with non-life-threatening injuries was discovered in a neighbouring region.
”There was another male on Regent’s Park Road who was thought to be in his 20s. With stab wounds, paramedics transported him to a hospital.
His injuries have since been confirmed as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.”
The Nigerian suspect and another individual suspected of helping him were detained, according to another police update on the incident.
Ogunyankinnu was detained on Friday and charged with murder on Sunday, it further stated.
He will be arraigned before a Stratford Magistrates’ Court, according to the police.
“A man has been accused by detectives with killing 21-year-old Finbar Sullivan in Primrose Hill on Tuesday, April 7.
On Friday, April 10, Oluwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, 27 (29.12.1998), of Southbury Road, Enfield, was taken into custody. On Sunday, April 12, he was charged with murder. On Monday, April 13, he is scheduled to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court.”
According to the statement, “the 25-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, was released with no further action.”
Ogunyankinnu is hardly the first Nigerian to become entangled in a murder case.
