In Isua Akoko, the state’s headquarters for the Akoko South-East Local Government Area, the Ondo State Police Command apprehended a suspected kidnapper and saved his victim.
The victim, whose identity had not been disclosed, was reportedly kidnapped by three men on a farm but managed to flee after struggling and hitting one of them in the head.
State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abayomi Jimoh said in a statement on Tuesday that the command’s anti-kidnapping unit was handling the case for more investigation.
Jimoh stated, “One Ahmadu reported to the Isua Division on April 10, 2026, that two young men had gone to Ipesi Akoko to raise cattle, but one of them did not return home.” Following the report, the police launched a well-coordinated, intelligence-driven operation that successfully rescued the abducted victim.
The victim described how three suspected kidnappers kidnapped him at night. He injured one of the suspects’ heads during the encounter while attempting to defy his captors.
“Operatives of the Isua Division mobilized and stormed Obasanjo Motor Park, Isua, at approximately 0609 hours, where a suspicious individual with a visible head injury was apprehended, acting swiftly on credible information obtained from the victim.”
The victim had identified the suspect, “particularly noting the injury inflicted on him,” and the suspect had admitted to being a member of the abduction ring, according to the police spokeswoman.
“The suspect has been transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit for further investigation and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation, while the victim has since been taken to the hospital for medical attention.”
Remember how residents of Imoga Community in Akoko Edo Local Government Area apprehended kidnapper Ismaila Ibrahim on Monday? Mallam Jamilu, an Ibillo cow dealer, was one of Ibrahim’s escaped victims.
The suspect was taken into custody on Thursday, according to Bode Ekundayo, National Coordinator of the Movement for the Advancement of Akoko Edo People. Another individual was also taken into custody following a confessional statement.
