The Osun State Police Command asked the public to assist in identifying the family of a 70-year-old woman who was discovered wandering in the state.
In a notification distributed to journalists on Monday, Abiodun Ojelabi, the command Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this.
The statement claims that a Good Samaritan discovered the old woman, known as Shifawu Alabi, on April 24, 2026, and took her to the police.
“On April 24, 2026, an elderly woman spotted roaming about the neighborhood was brought to the police by a Good Samaritan from Tiwadayo Street, Ofatedo. During the interview, she identified herself as Shifawu Alabi “F,” a 70-year-old resident of the Oja-Oba neighborhood in Ibadan.”
The notice stated, “She could not give any satisfactory account of where she was going or coming from.”
The public was urged by the command to help reunite the woman with her family.
“Please spread the word to help reunite her with her loved ones,” Ojelabi continued.
The development correlates with other instances of missing people being located and reunited with their families through police action and public collaboration.
Residents have been asked by authorities to be watchful and to report any situations involving missing or vulnerable people to the closest police station.
