JAMB registers 869,709 candidates, suspends 9 centres for malpractice

The Joint Admissions and matric Board has aforesaid that it registered 869,709 candidates for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, that is scheduled to hold in March.

The board additionally aforesaid that it suspended 9 Computer-Based-Test centres that broke the code governing the 2019 registration exercise.

JAMB noted that a number of the centres demanded higher fees than the amounts stipulated by the federal.

According to the publication, the 9 suspended centres area unit are the University of Dahomey International ICT Centre, Iyayi, Benin, Edo State; Mardakem restricted by Methodist Boys highschool, Oron, Akwa-Ibom State; Bintels world Services, Aguleri, Anambra State; Noble and Shuaib ICT restricted, Alor, Anambra State; world ICT Connect, Makurdi, Benue State; prosecuting attorney Civic Centre, Benin City, Edo State; Medes ICT Centre, Okitipupa, Ondo State; Divine Success All CBT Centre, Iseyin, Oyo State; Riyom ICT Centre, Riyom Secretariat, tableland State.

The board aforesaid, “Before commencing the 2019 UTME and Direct Entry registration exercise, a gathering with all CBT operators was convened in Lagos State, wherever the rules on the exercise were deliberated upon and ordered out strictly for all to stick to. The meeting had resolved that the price of registration mustn’t exceed N700.

“Unfortunately, findings from the board’s observance exercise discovered that some centres were charging on top of the stipulated figure directed by the federal and equally united at throughout the Lagos meeting.”

The board intercalary that ten centres in Lagos and tableland states were beneath investigation for identical offences, adding that it might convene a management meeting in the week to require applicable action on those centres.
