In the Ilaro region of the state, the Ogun State Police Command has detained four alleged cultists on charges of assault, armed robbery, and illegal firearm possession.
Samson John, age 25, Olufowora Michael, age 28, Odeh Samuel Ejeh, age 25, and Olajide Jeremiah, age 28, were named as the suspects.
This was revealed on Monday in a statement signed by Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command’s police public relations officer.
The statement claims that on April 16, 2026, a complaint was filed at the Ilaro Division, which led to the arrest.
A report was made at the station on April 16, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m. According to the complaint, Samson John “M” and six other people broke into his home earlier that day at around 1pm, attacked him, threatened him with an axe, and took his iPhone 14 Pro Max.
According to Babaseyi, a number of things were found during the operation, and the suspects were captured after a prompt response by the operatives.
“The culprits were captured after the operatives responded quickly and conducted an investigation. One locally manufactured handgun, an axe, suspected charms, and the stolen iPhone 14 Pro Max were found on them during the operation, it continued.
The leadership stated that while attempts are underway to apprehend other gang members who are escaping, the suspects are currently in jail.
While efforts are being made to capture the gang’s escaping members, the suspects are presently being held by the police. For additional investigation and prosecution, the matter has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), according to the statement.
Bode Ojajuni, the Commissioner of Police, reiterated the command’s zero tolerance policy for violent crimes and cultism while praising the officers for their professionalism and quick response.
The statement said, “He reaffirmed the Command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other violent crimes, assuring residents that all criminal elements will be decisively dealt with.”
