The state governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged the people living in the Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State to vote for Dayo Faduyile, the All Progressives Congress candidate, ahead of the byelection on Saturday.
In order to fill the vacancy left by former senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s appointment as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, the Independent National Electoral Commission is holding a bye-election.
Speaking at the APC’s final campaign event in Okitipupa on Thursday, Aiyedatiwa urged locals to vote peacefully and make sure their ballots are counted.
The governor, speaking through his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, stated that Prof. Faduyile, a former president of the Nigeria Medical Association, is the best competent candidate to represent the district in the Senate.
The Governor declared,”Prof. Faduyile has the necessary experience, intelligence, and leadership skills to effectively articulate the interests of Ondo South at the National Assembly.
Under Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, a distinguished scholar, this senatorial district has benefited from strong representation; thus, we must continue that tradition by electing another candidate who has demonstrated competence.
We have excellent senatorial representation, and Ondo South cannot afford to cut corners. Prof. Faduyile is qualified and qualified to carry on that tradition.”
Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed the APC’s resolve to secure resounding support for President Bola Tinubu in the general elections of 2027 and expressed confidence in the party’s increasing acceptance throughout the state.
In his earlier remarks, Mr. Babatunde Kolawole, the state APC chairman, urged party members and stakeholders to step up grassroots mobilization prior to the election, reassuring them of the State Working Committee’s dedication to securing the party’s win.
Speaking as well, Pastor Femi Agagu, Chairman of the Campaign Committee, characterized Prof. Faduyile as a candidate whose qualifications, acceptability, and performance history make him a desirable option for voters throughout the district.
