Paul Pogba will be leaving Monaco; negotiations to terminate the midfielder’s contract early are in progress.
After serving an 18-month doping suspension, Pogba returned to professional football and signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 team last summer.
An injury limited his playing opportunities during his first season at Monaco. This season, there were expectations that the former France international will play more frequently.
However, Monaco’s midfield plans may change if Filipe Luis takes over as manager in place of Sébastien Pocognoli.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s report on X on Wednesday, “AS Monaco offers Paul Pogba contract termination.” In order to allow Paul to choose a new club this year, the club wishes to mutually end his contract by September 1st. Pogba, who is currently injured, made the decision, but AS Monaco notified his camp.
Following a doping test in August 2023, Pogba tested positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and was first banned for four years. He said he had inadvertently consumed a supplement containing the prohibited chemical and argued the positive test was an accident.
In March 2025, he was able to resume playing professional football after the Court of Arbitration for Sport lowered his suspension to 18 months.
Pogba’s stint at Monaco will finish early if the deal is finalized, allowing the 2018 World Cup winner to think about his next professional move.
