On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the Nigeria Customs Service’s Apapa Area Command announced that it had reached yet another historic revenue milestone, collecting N28.10 billion in a single day—the greatest amount of money the Command had ever collected in a single day.

The accomplishment surpasses the previous daily record of N20.1 billion, which was collected sometime in September 2025, shortly after the current Customs Area Controller of the command, Emmanuel Oshoba, took office, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman.

The announcement partially stated, “The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has recorded another historic revenue milestone, generating N28.10 billion only within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the highest single-day revenue collection ever recorded by the command.”

The statement claims that the new record was set just a few weeks after the command collected an unprecedented N323 billion in revenue each month in July 2026, “further demonstrating the sustained impact of reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and the increasing efficiency of digital customs processes.”

Speaking on the progress, Emmanuel Oshoba, the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, emphasized that the accomplishment is about the NCS’s commitment to Nigerians’ economic well-being rather than just numbers or records.

According to Oshoba, the money made by the service goes toward funding public priorities including infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, and other things that eventually affect the lives of regular Nigerians.

Oshoba dedicated the milestone to the Nigerian government and people while praising Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of Customs, and his management team for their ongoing support of modernization, automation, and reforms aimed at making customs operations more effective, transparent, and business-friendly.

In accomplishing this goal, the CAC also recognized the assistance of law-abiding importers, exporters, licensed customs officers, and other stakeholders, as well as patriotic Nigerians who have contributed useful intelligence.

Oshoba emphasized that every lawful transaction advances the country’s development and urged interested parties to keep promoting lawful commerce, pointing out that a larger revenue base enables the government to better address the needs of the populace and foster an atmosphere that fosters business success.

Instead of becoming complacent, he urged the Command’s officers and men to view the record as an obligation to accomplish more.

Revenue collection must be accomplished in conjunction with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency, and respect for stakeholders, the head of Apapa Customs emphasized.

He instructed staff to settle justifiable disputes quickly and make sure that customs processes don’t unduly impede legitimate firms.

Oshoba stated that the command is still dedicated to maintaining this momentum through improved revenue generation, trade facilitation, professionalism, and stakeholder collaboration, with the knowledge that each legitimate revenue collected enhances the government’s ability to fulfilll its development priorities and enhance Nigerians’ quality of life.
