Despite the challenging circumstances surrounding his exit from Newcastle United, Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has stated that joining the Premier League powerhouses was a “simple decision.”
On September 2025 deadline day, the Sweden international transferred to Liverpool for a record-breaking £125 million.
Isak stated that Liverpool’s stature, ambition, and resolve to recruit him persuaded him that the move was the correct one in an interview on Friday.
Isak stated, “Everything about the club made it pretty clear that Liverpool is a massive club.”
“The club’s aspirations and determination to admit me as well. It played a significant role in it, he claimed.
After a tumultuous time at his previous club, Real Sociedad, where he trained away from the first squad, Isak left Newcastle.
The striker claimed that Newcastle had betrayed agreements to him.
However, injury cut short his first season at Anfield. Isak played just 1,032 minutes in 22 games before missing December through April due to a leg break.
He scored three goals in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old maintains that he has never regretted joining Liverpool, despite the challenging season.
“Never, never. When asked if he had ever regretted the move, he responded, “I would never think like that.”
Isak thinks he overcame the setback by keeping his eyes on the future.
The leg break was difficult. “Anyone with a long-term injury would know,” he remarked.
“However, when you’re feeling good and in a good place, you don’t really tend to look back because it doesn’t really benefit you.”
After just four games this season, the striker has already matched his Premier League total of three goals from the previous season.
In the summer, he also played for Sweden in the World Cup.
