Two suspects have been taken into custody by the Gombe State Police Command in relation to the armed robbery and the killing of the wife of a police officer currently serving, which occurred at Wuro Shie Quarters in Gombe.
The two suspects, named as Muhammad Bashir Sale, 20, known as “Full”, and Musa Sale Ahmad, 18, known as “Abba”, were apprehended on Saturday, September 26, 2026, after the incident took place.
The command made this known in a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.
The statement said the incident happened at about 4:35 am on September 26, when unknown persons carrying machetes and cutlasses attacked the home of Inspector Salisu Waziri, who is assigned to the Safer Highway Patrol.
Reports indicate that the attackers tried to steal the mobile phone of Waziri’s wife, Mrs Aishatu Salisu.
According to the police, the victim screamed for help during the attack, which led one of the assailants to stab her with a machete before they fled, abandoning the phone at the scene.
The statement said, “Upon receipt of the report, the Pantami Divisional Patrol Team immediately mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where she was unfortunately certified dead.”
The command stated that after the incident, it launched an investigation and stepped up efforts to identify and arrest those responsible.
According to the police, the two suspects, who both live in Wuro Shie Quarters, were later taken into custody in connection with the case.
“In the course of the preliminary investigation, the suspects admitted to taking part in the crime. A sharp knife was also found and kept as an exhibit,” the statement further said.
The command noted that the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gombe, is handling the investigation of the case.
CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, the Commissioner of Police, ordered a discreet and exhaustive investigation to make sure that everyone found responsible was brought to justice.
The command reassured residents of its dedication to safeguarding lives and property, and encouraged the public to stay alert and report suspicious individuals, movements, and activities to the closest police formation.
“Further developments will be communicated accordingly,” the statement added.
