On Monday, members of the Take-It-Back Movement protested at the Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan, Oyo State, about the state’s deteriorating security conditions and the ongoing detention of kidnapped students and educators in Oriire Local Government Area.
The demonstrators gathered at the state capital’s bustling intersection and demanded that the government and security services step up their efforts to secure the victims’ release and address the growing number of kidnapping incidents in Oyo State.
The protesters, who carried signs with different messages on them, voiced their worries about what they said was an increase in insecurity that affected locals, farmers, traders, and students.
“Security for all, not for a few,” “We demand safer roads and communities,” “Government must end kidnapping in Oyo State,” “Protect farmers, traders, and students,” and “Peace, security, and justice” are some of the signs.
One of the protesters stated that Nigerians were growing more and more irritated by the ongoing security issues the nation was facing.
“Tell them that Nigerians are not at peace.” Inform them that Oyo State residents are not grinning. The demonstrator declared, “Let them know that the Nigerian people are tired of insecurity.”
The protest takes place in the midst of mounting indignation over the kidnappings of students, instructors, and students during attacks on schools in the Oriire Local Government Area’s Ahoro-Esiele region.
Residents and parents were deeply alarmed when armed men broke into schools and nearby villages and abducted the victims.
The Oyo State Government and security services have been urged by the relatives of the abductees to step up rescue operations and guarantee their loved ones’ safe return.
