In Umuoduba Village, Ideani, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, three children were discovered dead at the home of a female native healer known as “Ezenwanyi.”

Along with the others, a fourth youngster was found unconscious. He was saved and sent to a hospital, where the victim is still in critical condition, according to the police.

The neighborhood is in shock following the early-morning Wednesday event, and locals are finding it difficult to comprehend the circumstances surrounding the killings.

Four children, estimated to be between six and fifteen years old, were discovered unconscious inside the woman’s home, according to locals. The fourth youngster, who was still alive, was brought to the hospital by locals before to the arrival of rescue personnel, while the other three were confirmed dead.

At the time this complaint was filed, it was unknown who the youngsters were and how they got to be on the property.

The woman, who maintains pigs and poultry birds in the enclosure, was later arrested by Ogidi Divisional Police Headquarters officers working with local authorities, according to a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In the woman’s compound, the four kids were discovered unconscious. The fourth child was still breathing and was taken to the hospital, but the other three were already dead when they were found. Everyone in the town is shocked by the incident, according to the resident.

Videos that went viral on social media showed the Ogidi Division’s Divisional Police Officer checking the property soon after the incident with the help of local security guards, community leaders, and the President-General of Ideani Community.

Residents watched from a distance as the suspect led security personnel around various parts of the site, including residential areas and shrines, according to the footage.

Police officers assigned to the Ogidi Division responded right away after getting a distress report, according to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, who confirmed the occurrence.

According to him, the victims were taken to a hospital for emergency care, where physicians determined that three of the children were dead and the fourth was still admitted in severe condition.

The State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the matter for a thorough investigation, Ikenga continued, adding that the female suspect is still in police custody.

“The Anambra State Police Command expresses profound sadness over the discovery of four unconscious children at a residential premises in Umuoduba Village, Ideani, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State,” he stated.

The victims were taken to a hospital for emergency medical care as soon as the rescue squad, which was lead by police officers from Ogidi Police Station, received the information.

Unfortunately, medical professionals declared three of the children dead, while the fourth victim is presently undergoing critical care.

“The State Criminal Investigation Department will take over the case and conduct a thorough, professional, intelligence-driven, and evidence-based investigation, while a female suspect in connection with the incident is currently in police custody.”

According to the police spokeswoman, detectives were optimistic that the surviving child’s narrative might aid in determining the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, contingent on the child’s medical recovery and clearance.

He continued by saying that the deceased’s bodies had been placed in a morgue for autopsy and preservation.

Ikenga offered the command’s condolences to the Ideani community and the grieving families, advising locals to maintain composure, refrain from disseminating false information, and give investigators time to finish their task.

As the investigation moves further, he promised to offer more updates.
